Single-tier, paperless order assembling and dispatching at a publications logistics center
The light-weight handling system carries the open box trays through the consignment store. With the aid of a pick-by-light system, the individual articles are loaded into their respective boxes at the various depots. Fully automated vertical conveyors interconnect the various stories of the building.

Two-tier paperless assembling of boxes at a carrier-operated distribution center
A pick-by-light system signals which boxes are to be placed on the takeoff belt. The latter forwards the boxes to the shipping area, where they are automatically sorted according to order. Takeoff belts from four different order-assembling lanes on two different stories merge into a single sort-for-shipping conveyor.

In this pick-and-place system, the order cartons are discharged by different pick-and-place zones and loaded with the order items. This process is supported by a pick-by-light system. The completed cartons are then run past a shipment control scale prior to package closure.
